- - Special events (Angkor Wat Half Marathon 2007
The Angkor Wat Half Marathon: keen marathon runner, or just enjoy fun-running through inspiring scenery for
a good cause? If yes to either of these then the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon (now celebrating its 12th anniversary), around
the fascinating, impressive, Angkor Wat temples is a must! Asia Adventures has put together an exciting 6 day package which will allow
you to fully appreciate the wonderful temples, take a cruise on South East Asia’s largest freshwater lake, and discover the charming capital
city of Phnom Penh – as well as running the Marathon of course!
We fully understand that before and after such a run a certain amount of pampering is required. As such we have negotiated excellent rates
with various hotels in Siem Reap which are quiet, comfortable, air conditioned, have a refreshing pool, and in-house massage services.
And don’t forget, the Angkor Wat Marathon is both a serious and a fun event, so the whole family can take part.
There are various categories: the Half Marathon (21km) for men and women 16+; the 10km Fun Run for men and women 16+; the 5km
Fun Run for women only (any age); and the 4km Family Fun Run. As for the good cause, part of your Marathon entrance fee goes towards
helping Cambodian land-mine victims. Our Angkor Wat Half Marathon package offers an excellent choice for marathon runners to experience
a small slice of wonderful Cambodia.
“RELIVE ANGKOR”
“Within these very walls, under these very same starlit skies, once in ancient times, Jayavarman VII, acclaimed as one of the greatest
Khmer kings dined with his entourage while beautiful Apsaras dance to a music so haunting, so distant, as ageless as the very temples
of Angkor. Welcome to the Terrace of the Leper King. For you, we have prepared to a true heritage dining experience…tonight,
we “relive Angkor .”
The Angkor Century Resort & Spa is proud to offer “Relive Angkor,” a very special
“al fresco” dinner show set at the inner-court of the 11 th Century Terrace of the Leper King within the Angkor Thom Compound
in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Be enthralled by a forty five (45) minute rendition of select dances from the “Ramayana,” the famed-Hindu
epic love-story of Rama and Sita. Murals about which decorate the walls of some Khmer temples including the Angkor Wat. Especially
lighted bass-relief of Apsaras, goddesses and spirits, hand-carved on the terrace walls by ancient Khmers, will serve as stage backdrop.
Started from November 2006 to March 2007, show dates are as follows:
November 17 and 24, 2006
December 8, 15 and 22, 2006
January 12, 19 and 26, 2007
